S Mt. Shasta Ski Park

Mt. Shasta Ski Park (4500 Ski Park Hwy., off CA-89, 530/926-8610 or 530/926-8600, www.skipark.com, 9am-4pm daily mid-Dec.-mid-Apr., $64-79 adults, $54-64 seniors, $44-59 children 8-12, $19-34 children 7 and under; snow tubing 10am-4pm Sat.-Sun. and holidays, 2 hours $15-25) has four chairlifts and one magic carpet lift that access 425 acres of terrain. When there’s enough snow and staffing, Mt. Shasta keeps half of the mountain open on Friday and Saturday evenings for twilight skiing. The magic carpet, located behind the base lodge, and the Marmot lift are the perfect grades for beginners to learn or get their snow legs. More advanced skiers and snowboarders can head up the Douglas lift to take the mid-mountain Coyote Butte chair to access the terrain park and half-pipe. The Gray Butte quad chairlift allows skiers and snowboarders to shred down an additional 211 acres of terrain from its peak elevation of 7,500 feet (2,286 m).
